Last September 22, 2007, Christ the King Parish at Greenmeadows celebrated the second anniversary of its Stewardship Way of Life. Bishop Honesto Ongtioco of the Diocese of Cubao celebrated the Holy Eucharist at 6pm.
The Gospel reading for that Sunday was about the dishonest steward who was commended by his Master. Does this mean that dishonesty is praised by our Lord? Far from it. The story was told to make us realize that we should be as concerned or as shrewd in dealing with the things that matter compared to the things of this earth. If we look around us though, it is easier to find people who will exert a lot of time and effort for material and fleeting matters rather than for treasure that lasts.
After the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, there was a brief get-together, with parishioners who supported our Stewardship Way of Life in one way or another. I did a brief presentation about what stewardship means, followed by some song numbers by tenor, Jonathan Badon. Mr. Badon wowed the crowd with his musical numbers and it is very evident that he is using his God-given talent to entertain people and to make all of us appreciate music better.
The night ended with a short message from Bishop Ongtioco and the turn-over of funds from Stewardship to the Diocese of Cubao and to the parish. These funds will be used for projects of the parish and the diocese.
