Feast of St. Anthony of Padua: June 13

Today, June 13, is the Feast Day of St. Anthony of Padua. Catholics usually ask for his intercession when they lose or misplace things. He is also known as The Wonderworker and was a Franciscan.

St. Anthony died at the age of 36 on June 13, 1231. During his lifetime, the Infant Jesus was said to have appeared to St. Anthony, hugged him and kissed him.

I am reminded of asking for St. Anthony’s intercession for lost things as during a mass recently, the priest officiating the mass mentioned that June 13 was the fiesta at his parish — which is named after St. Anthony. He then says in the Filipino language: “Si San Antonio ang patron ng mga burara at ulianin.” (St. Anthony is the patron of the careless/messy and those who are forgetful or senile.)

Anyway, should you find yourself misplacing or losing something, you can always ask for St. Anthony’s help. In my case, it has worked in the past. =)
